The Ethics Committee reviews and thoroughly researches any complaints submitted regarding members in good standing in the organization. In the even that violations are found, the Committee acts in accordance with the Ethics Policy Guidelines of the IAABC.
Ruth Crisler, Chair
Ruth Crisler is a certified behavior consultant (CBCC-KA), and IAABC Supporting member since 2010. She began training dogs professionally in 1998 following a career with horses. In 2000 she founded See Spot Run, a Chicago training and boarding facility focused on canine socialization, obedience instruction, and behavior work. She lives on site with her husband, two children, and three dogs (adopted pit bull Atlas, German shepherd Feisal, and westie Lodger). In her free time, she practices tae kwon do, tends to her blog Spot Check, and cooks risotto.
Sarah Fraser, CDBC, Committee Member
Sarah Fraser is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC), a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP), and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). She is the co-owner and Chief Training Officer of Instinct Dog Behavior & Training, a behavior consulting company in New York City specializing in helping city dogs with fear, aggression, and anxiety issues. Sarah is currently working toward her MA in Animal Behavior & Conservation at Hunter College. She has been training dogs full time for more than 8 years, and has been volunteering in shelters and with rescue groups for much of her life.
Sarah lives with her husband and business partner Brian Burton, CDBC and IAABC Board Member at-Large; her five rescue dogs (pit bull mixes Buster and Will, American bulldog mix Mozeez, and rat terrier mixes Joey and Jacky); and one rescue cat, Kitty.

Meyghan McCrea, Committee Member
Meyghan McCrea is a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP), and a regular volunteer trainer and adoption interviewer for animal shelters in the NYC area. She has a JD from Columbia Law School and has worked for several years as a corporate lawyer, specializing in capital markets, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and business ethics.
She lives in New York with her son, Lincoln, rescued lab mix, Hamlet and rescued German Shepherd, Addy.
Jesse Miller, Committee Member
Jesse Miller got his doctorate in bioethics from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. A passionate student of animal ethics and policy, he currently works for IAABC as the managing editor of the IAABC Journal and social media co-ordinator. Jesse lives in San Francisco with his partner and a chihuahua called Edie. In his spare time, he volunteers at the San Francisco SPCA and writes about science and skepticism.
Ilene Nathan, Consulting Member
Ilene Nathan is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant who owns Pawsitive Works in the Baltimore area. In addition to doing private behavior consults, she is active in local Doberman and beagle rescue groups. Her particular interest is educating potential adopters on prevention of behavior problems. Ilene spends most of her days as an attorney in the Maryland Office of the Attorney General serving as Director of its Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. She has previously served on the IAABC Board of Directors. She is an ardent Orioles fan and never turns down an opportunity to share a drink with the Executive Director.
