Danielle Basciano, Chair
Danielle is a professional dog trainer and behavior consultant, working with dogs and cats through her business - CNY Pet Training & Behavior - in Upstate New York. An active volunteer in her community, she consults regularly with local rescue organizations and animal welfare agencies. She has served on a variety of non-profit boards and is currently the board president, lead evaluator and therapy dog class instructor for Sunshine Friends, Inc. Therapy Pet Programs where she has volunteered for over 12 years.
Danielle stays current on the latest training and behavior modification techniques by regularly attending workshops and seminars given by the leaders in the field. Danielle is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed, a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine - Knowledge Assessed, an Associate Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through IAABC, a Professional Member of APDT and an approved AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
Sarah Filipiak, Moderator
Sarah Filipiak is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant who started her Athens, Ohio-based training and consulting business, Best Pets Dog Training LLC, in 2001. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, after which she worked as a newspaper reporter, then editor, for six years.
She was the 2011-12 president of the IAABC and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Sarah has served on the board of her local all-breed dog rescue organization since 2001, is a founding member of the Athens, Ohio Dog Parks Committee and performs behavior evaluations for local humane organizations. She completed an internship with Sue Sternberg in May 2004 and has attended numerous presentations on dog behavior and training. An AKC obedience competitor, Sarah and Kessel Von Fichtenwald, her first clicker-trained dog, earned a High In Trial award Kessel's first time in the ring. Sarah has been quoted in the Popular Dogs Training Series magazines for German Shepherds and for Rottweilers. Besides behavior and learning, her areas of interest include communication, philosophy and theology, technology and all things equine.
Chris Wagoner, Moderator
A graduate and Certified Training Partner of the Karen Pryor Academy, Christina (Chris) Waggoner is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge and Skills Assessed. She holds memberships in several organizations which promote better training methods for dogs and their people, including the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and The International Association Of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).
Chris has been a volunteer trainer since 2008 for Freedom Dogs, a non-profit organization providing service dogs to military veterans, working with the veterans, training the trainers, and raising and training two dogs for the organization, Eli and Gunner. Chris also is an authorized presenter for Doggone Safe, a non-profit organization dedicated to Dog Bite Prevention for children through education.
Chris lives in central Oregon with several Siberian huskies, a rambunctious lab mix, a former street dog from Thailand, a pot bellied pig and one very patient husband. When she is not training people and their dogs or writing her blog for pet owners (The Dexter Diaries), Chris and her husband are out mushing with the huskies.
Chris has been quoted in Dog Fancy Magazine's Popular Dog Series "Training Secrets For Siberian Huskies", Orange Coast Magazine, Whole Dog Journal, and has written several articles for clickertraining.com (http://clickertraining.com). She believes that the vast majority of behavior problems that occur between our dogs and ourselves lies in that gap between what is normal canine behavior and our human expectation of them. Her goal in life is to bridge that gap!
Marilyn Krieger, Moderator
Marilyn Krieger, owner of The Cat Coach, LLC(R), member of the Board of Directors and Co-chair of the Cat Division of the IAABC, specializes in resolving cat behavior problems through on site and phone consultations. Besides consulting with clients, Marilyn authors the monthly cat behavior column for Cat Fancy Magazine and writes the weekly column for CatChannel.com, Cat Fancy Magazine's web presence. Her new book, which focuses on changing unwanted behaviors through clicker training, education, environmental management and other positive reinforcement methods is scheduled for release fall 2010.
Marilyn also offers cat behavior seminars and classes. She donates her time at the Peninsula Humane Society as a cat behaviorist and is also the coordinator for California Bengal Cat Rescue.
