"La presencia de la IAABC en español ha sido muy importante para ayudar a que en Latinoamérica tengamos mayor acceso a formación de gran calidad y que tengamos la posibilidad de obtener una credencial reconocida internacionalmente, además de fomentar la regulación de una industria en la que aún es muy aceptado utilizar prácticas que van en contra del bienestar animal. Por mi parte, pertenecer a la IAABC y obtener mi acreditación ha sido una forma de comprobar, tanto a clientes como a otros colegas, que mi formación y forma de trabajo cumple con estándares internacionales. Asimismo, me gusta saber que continuamente puedo tener acceso a recursos con profesionales actualizados a través de la IAABC Foundation. ¡Ojalá siga creciendo la oferta en español! Además me ha permitido conocer y mantener el contacto con profesionales de diversos países para formar una red de apoyo. Considero que todo lo anterior ha representado una mejora en mi desarrollo profesional".
El ser miembro de la IAABC para mi ha sido una gran oportunidad para seguir adquiriendo y actualizando conocimientos sobre conducta. Es una gran comunidad a la que tienes la opción de recurrir ante cualquier duda, caso, problema que se te presente. Siempre habrá alguien que de una opinión objetiva y de buena manera. Siendo parte de la IAABC sientes que no estás solo a la hora de abogar por LIMA y por el bienestar de los animales que nos rodean.
Para mí la llegada de la IAABC a Latinoamérica, particularmente a Chile, fue como un salto hacia el futuro ya que aquí no había nada parecido a las muchas organizaciones de conducta y entrenamiento que veía en el exterior y las pocas opciones disponibles que ofrecían certificaciones o cursos de formación eran todas de la "vieja escuela” en relación al uso de castigos, dominar a los perros e incluso incurrir directamente en maltrato en nombre del adiestramiento o conseguir resultados, por lo que unirse a cualquiera de esas organizaciones era realmente retroceder en educación y actualización, sin mencionar que si deseabas algún tipo de certificación entonces debías hacer las cosas a su manera. IAABC me salvó de ese dilema al ser la primera organización en ofrecer acreditaciones y certificaciones independientes, en donde no estás obligado a realizar ningún curso en particular para postular a los exámenes. Tus conocimientos, experiencia, ética y estudios en el área son lo que importan y eso es lo que determina si apruebas o no. Además, creo que puedo decir con bastante seguridad que IAABC Español ofrece una cantidad de recursos educativos y de formación continua de primer nivel para sus miembros, ya que lamentablemente suele ocurrir que lo más actualizado está siempre en inglés y los hispanoparlantes se van quedando atrás y por eso la gran familia IAABC se esfuerza tanto en traducir constantemente material, porque no queremos que el idioma sea una barrera en el bienestar de los animales y sus personas. Y hablando de familia, eso ha sido para mí la IAABC, una familia de la cual he formado parte desde que nació en Chile y quiero seguir estando ahí mientras crece hacia un futuro más amable con los animales.
Obtener la certificación de la IAABC ha sido un hito en mi carrera profesional que no solo fortaleció mis conocimientos, sino que también permitió validar mi experiencia a nivel internacional. Esto es especialmente significativo, ya que en Argentina no había un lugar similar donde pudiera certificar mis habilidades y conocimientos. La IAABC también me conectó con una comunidad de profesionales apasionados que comparten mi amor por los animales y mi compromiso con su bienestar. Además, tuve la oportunidad de colaborar con otros profesionales de renombre en proyectos y casos complejos, lo que ha enriquecido mi práctica y ampliado mi perspectiva. También me ha proporcionado una plataforma para compartir mi experiencia y conocimientos a través de la enseñanza y la mentoría, lo que me ha permitido dar forma a la próxima generación de profesionales en el campo del comportamiento animal.
